The Mobile Service Sector is gearing up to receive more competition. After the new entrants like Uninor, MTS, DOCOMO Now it’s time for Videocon Owned Datacom to enter the sector.
After entering into Mobile handsets market, Videocon is now eyeing on the Mobile Service sector. Videocon now acquired controlling stake in Datacom Company and launching it’s first service in Mumbai on February 20, followed by Tamil Nadu & Punjab in March. The company is also planning to cover the entire country within 18 months.
Datacom, a subsidiary of consumer durables major Videocon Group, acquired licenses in January 2008 to provide nation-wide cellular services. It is also one among the eight new operators who acquired license. The name of the Company will be changed as Videocon Telecommunications.
The company also inked a tower sharing agreement with Aircel and Datacom. The company’s advertising contract was also up for grabs and Singapore-based T.A.G was a front runner to bag the contract. For wireless equipment the company had signed a MoU with Huawei. For Roaming company has signed agreement with the Essar Group promoted Loop Telecom Ltd.
Combining both GSM & CDMA now there are almost 20 Players in Mobile Service Industry In India.
