STD tariffs may drop as TRAI allows internet telephony

One good news for those who make long distance calls. Indian telecom regulator TRAI today allowed ISPs to provide unrestricted internet telephony service. Because of this the STD rates will come down. As of now many service providers like Vodafone, Airtel are providing STD at 1.30p.

As of now one can make voice calls in India from one PC to another PC. PC to Landline/Mobile was not allowed in India till now. The move will allow users to call from PC to Landline/mobile which makes the call rates much cheaper and also puts India on par with global standards in terms of communication technology.
